18 Oct, 2020: One day Workshop themed on Mental Health during COVID-19 Pandemic was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Sahara Foundation at Institute of Medical science and Technology Lawaypora in Srinagar on Sunday afternoon. Workshop enlightened the participants on various aspects of pandemic including adverse developments in mental health of youth during pandemic, preventive measures and research and development of vaccines.
“The youth who forms the backbone of the society is required to be encouraged towards constructive and progressive works. Also drug abuse that has deepened during pandemic should be uprooted by properly counselling youth” said Sheikh Ahsaan Ellahi, President of Jammu & Kashmir Sahara Foundation.
Medical professionals from Noora Hospital and officials from Directorate of Health Services Kashmir spoke on the event. Basic to advance information on ongoing research on vaccines was shared by the doctors. Also preventive measures with respect to pandemic were also stressed upon by social workers who spoke to the audience during the event.
Mr Zahoor Ahmad Ragi who also addressed the audience in the concluding session urged to take recommendations of medical staff very seriously and also stressed upon revival of traditional and cultural practices of Kashmir for promotion of over all well being of society.
A specialized counselling program was also held at the culmination session, which was followed by discussion among youths and members of organization wherein future strategy was formulated and several youth centric ideas were reviewed for welfare of local youths
The event was organized under strict protocol and guidelines to avoid close social contacts, and free of cost face masks and sanitizers were also distributed to participants during the event. The event was undertaken as part of Health and Medical Outreach Program of Jammu & Kashmir Sahara Foundation.
